Microwave Filters

We offer two different types of cryogenic microwave filters, developped for Milikelvin experiments with nano scale devices: The standard MFT (mircrowave filter and thermalizer), consist of a copper wire embedded into a highly conductive silver matrix to ensure optimal thermalization. The πMFT is identical to the standard MFT, but equipped with an additional pair of discoidal capacitors, resulting in improved microwave suppression.

MFT (mircrowave filter and thermalizer)

  • DC resistance: ~5Ω at room temperature (<50mΩ at 4.2K)
  • Capacitance:~5nF (both, room temperature and 4.2K)
  • 25dB Attenuation: ~8MHz (room temperature)
  • 100dB Attenuation: ~150MHz (room temperature)
  • Connector type: MCX (female/male or male-female)
  • Cost per filter: 600 EUR (Discount: 15% for 5 filters, 33% for 10 filters)

πMFT (pi mircrowave filter and thermalizer)

  • DC resistance: ~5Ω at room temperature (<50mΩ at 4.2K)
  • Capacitance:~14nF (both, room temperature and 4.2K)
  • 25dB Attenuation: ~1MHz (room temperature)
  • 100dB Attenuation: ~30MHz (room temperature)
  • Connector type: MCX (female/male or male-female)
  • Cost per filter: 750 EUR (Discount: 15% for 5 filters, 33% for 10 filters)

MFT/πMFT Transmission Spectrum

  • Room temperature transmission spectra: standard MFT (crosses), πMFT (circles), and open connection or noisefloor (triangles)
  • Measurments are done with a Signal Analyzer (up to 10MHz) and an Agilent Network Analyzer (10MHz - 20GHz)
  • No significant resonances are observed, once the filter transmission reaches the noisefloor
